When selecting set up time, please keep in mind that Center in the Square provides the set-up of tables, chairs and other equipment available in Center's inventory (referenced in rental contract). The renter is responsible for any decorating beyond the equipment that Center has available.

All Sales and Service of Alcohol must be provided by the Renter or approved Caterers in compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations, specifically including, but not limited to, those related to minimum age requirements. Renter must make sure all required licenses are obtained and properly displayed. A copy of all applicable licenses to provide and serve alcohol at the Event must be given to the Center at least seven (7) days in advance of the Event.

Center in the Square has many items available for use. Set up is included in the cost of the rental. If you prefer someone other than Center in the Square set up for you event, please let us know. Please provide us with a floor plan at least two weeks prior to your event.

Center in the Square does not provide catering services, linens for tables, flowers, or wedding planning services. Center in the Square Staff will gladly make referrals for services needed for your event.

Your Deposit for your event is non-refundable and is required within 10 days of signing your contract. As listed on the contract a COI (Certificate of Insurance) is required for all events held at Center in the Square.

Center in the Square is open to the public until 5 p.m., therefore, some event spaces (Atrium) are not available for setup until 5:30 p.m. Main doors can open for your guests at 6 p.m. Special setup exceptions should be requested at least 30 days in advance.



Although you may choose to work with any caterer, the Director of Facility Rentals can provide you with a list of caterers who work with Center in the Square regularly and are already familiar with Center’s policies and procedures.



Center in the Square’s Director of Events reserves the right to approve all decorations brought into the facilities of Center in the Square. Confetti, glitter, snow, rice, and birdseed are not permitted anywhere on the premises. See full agreement for details.



Center offers a range of audio/visual services that can be tailored to your specific requirements. In addition Center offers both wired and wireless internet connectivity throughout the building.



Center in the Square’s Director of Facility Rentals will provide a list of preferred vendors. Please note that Center does not have the capability to store any of your event items before or after your event.


Alcoholic Beverages

Lessee is responsible for obtaining the appropriate ABC Banquet License. Applicants should apply at least two (2) weeks prior to the date of the event.



Center in the Square Parking Garage is attached to Center but owned by the City of Roanoke. There are parking fees associated with parking in this garage. Many other parking options are available in downtown Roanoke. More information can be found at



Center in the Square is a non-smoking facility. Smoking is therefore not permitted anywhere on the property, including indoor rooms and outdoor spaces.



Thirty percent of total rental fee is due at time of space reservation. The balance of the rental fee must be paid 30 days prior to the event date. See full agreement for details.


Animal & Pets

Household pets are not permitted on the premises of Center in the Square. Service dogs are allowed when accompanied by their owner/handler.
