INTERNSHIP AT CENTER IN THE SQUARE
Internships located at Center in the Square in Downtown Roanoke. Internships are available at all times and can be customized according to students' schedules. Internships are available all year long for students Grades 8-12 and Undergraduate college students.

The Western Virginia Foundation for the Arts and Sciences (Center in the Square) was founded in 1983 and is now home to many key independent Roanoke cultural organizations
Science Museum of Western Virginia, History Museum & Historical Society of Western Virginia,O. Winston Link Museum, Mill Mountain Theatre (currently under reinvention), The Arts Council of the Blue Ridge, Opera Roanoke, and Roanoke Ballet Theatre, Inc.
Center's purpose is to increase economic development, tourism, and excellence in education by supporting arts and culture. Center in the Square's mission statement reads: To be an active participant in economic and downtown urban development by helping assure the financial health of vital elements of Western and Central Virginia's cultural quality of life. Center and its beneficiary organizations serve a wide region that includes the New River Valley, Alleghany Highlands and the Roanoke Valley Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) - Virginia's largest MSA west of Richmond in the Commonwealth, and the only major urban center for education, shopping, social and medical services, and cultural offerings for approximately 750,000 people in the Southern Piedmont and Western Virginia.

DESCRIPTION OF JOBS/TASKS ASSIGNED TO INTERNS
Development Department: Includes all aspects of fund-raising, cultivation, and some operations. Research, database management, development calls (face to face and phone), donor events, business/office work.
Community Affairs Department: Special events, retail store management, volunteer management/recruitment, public relations, guest services.
