Operated by the Science Museum of Western Virginia – entrance to the Butterfly Garden is on the fourth floor of Center in the Square. Visitors are able to walk amongst the butterflies in their own habitat or get a bird’s eye view from the rooftop on the sixth floor peering through the glass ceiling. Interact with live butterflies from around the world – some with wingspans of 8 inches! – in an enclosed, picturesque setting of lush plants and more than 20 species of orchids. Year-round temperatures in the Butterfly Garden will stay around 78 – 82 degrees. Humidity will stay at about 80%. For times and entrance fees please visit smwv.org
